The Body Shop International has for the last 10 years run a campaign, Stop Violence in the Home, throughout the world. In South Africa they generously supported the Saartjie Baartman Centre through this campaign. In September 2006, during their international conference in Cape Town, the Body Shop asked if delegates could do anything for the Centre.

The result was a wonderful tree and flower planting afternoon for the second stage houses, followed by a lavish spread prepared by Shelter residents doing the chef assistant training programme at the Centre. Great fun was had by all and those living in the second stage houses are very grateful for the gardens which help to bring some beauty into their surroundings.
