International visitors

Over the years, a number of international visitors have come to the Saartjie Baartman Centre to hear and see what we are doing. It began in July 2003 with a visit from the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, and in September of the same year, the First Lady of Iran, Her Excellency Mrs Zoreh Sadeghee, together with a number of Iranian women, was shown around the Centre.

US Ambassador Karen Hughes paid us a visit in 2006 and seemed to enjoy her time with the children. In April 2007, the Centre was graced by four different visits – from a delegation of Tunisian women who were part of the SAWID conference; a delegation from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies; the UN Ambassador on Housing, Miloon Kothari; and Indian Minister for Women and Children, Renuka Choudhury, with a delegation from the High Commission of India.
