Volunteering

You can donate your time, as a volunteer. Volunteers are valued contributors to the work of so many organisations these days.

At the Saartjie Baartman Centre, volunteers work mostly with the Shelter staff and clients. They visit the children over the weekends to play with them or take them on outings; volunteer as drivers to do "pick-ups" of food or other donations; or work in the gardens, keeping them as oases of beauty and peace.

Other volunteering opportunities involve helping with the maintenance of the building, from fixing broken windowpanes and faulty electrical connections to cleaning blocked drains. Or, if you have trained as a counsellor (professional or lay) and have time on your hands, you would be welcome to assist with intake assessments of those women who walk into the Centre for help. Specific training and supervision is provided by Saartjie Baartman staff.

If you would like to volunteer at the Saartjie Baartman Centre, fill in the Volunteer Application Form and email it to:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
